Project SIMPLE: the Anti-discrimination Agency for minority and migrant women opens in Pescara
28/11/2012

Today the Region of Abruzzo, partner of the project SIMPLE (Strenghtening the identity of Minority people leads to equality), presented the Anti-discrimination agency for minority and migrant women, which will be open to the public from December 10.

The Agency will be based in Via Pesaro 50, in Pescara, in the premises of a "Consultorio", a free health centre, thanks to the partnership between the Region and the ASL, the local health authority. The staff of the Anti-discrimination agency includes a coordinator, who will work in close cooperation with a linguistic mediator and a legal counsel, and with the SIMPLE project staff. Its functioning will start from the detection of cases and its subsequent management, both from the legal and sociological point of view , then move on to the processing of cases throughout technical and professional instruments used to accompany and guide the victim in the path of rights protection, promote actions of informal conciliation of disputes and finally proceed reporting the case to competent authorities.

The project SIMPLE, founded by the IPA Adriatic Cross-border Cooperation Programme, is an innovative initiative of institutional cooperation and capacity building that involves 5 Adriatic Countries. It is aimed at achieving social cohesion in the area through the strengthening of the cultural identities and diversity values of minority communities historically and recently living in Adriatic Countries.
